The house design is a result of the client’s clearly defined desires for the formation and distribution of the functional organization of the rooms, while adapting the given criteria to the conditions of the building construction site.
In terms of form, the request was for the house to be a free-standing building, cubic in shape, with a white facade and a flat roof. The functional distribution was to be defined by floors, with a living area on the ground floor and a sleeping area on the first floor. On the ground floor, in addition to the kitchen, dining room and living room that extends across two floors, the request was also to have an additional guest bedroom with a bathroom, a pantry, a garage with two parking spaces and a boiler room.
The sleeping area should contain three bedrooms and the main room, which will each have their own private bathrooms. Each of the rooms should have access to the outside space. Additional facilities on the first floor are a bathroom, a multifunctional open-type room and an office for the house owner. According to the owner’s wishes, the office should be located near the master bedroom, with a direct visual connection with the living room and a view of the entrance gate and the courtyard. The living room and the bedroom should face the same direction as the client’s brother’s house, so that visual communication is also achieved there. A covered porch for outdoor dining should be formed in front of the dining room.
In order to simplify the orientation of the users within the building itself, the complex program of rooms is divided into groups of similar rooms that are concentrated around the internal staircase in the form of three “boxes”.
This is further emphasized by the clockwise shift of each of the “boxes”, which is also noticeable in the design. Special emphasis is placed on the box of additional content (the guest room on the ground floor and the multifunctional room on the first floor) rising with its volume from the rest of the building.
In addition, the heights of the rooms vary depending on their purpose in the building interior.
